The Department of Strategy and Business Systems, based at the Portsmouth Business School, offers a range of innovative business and management postgraduate research degrees programmes.

Key facts
RAE rating: The Strategy & Business Systems' researchers submitted their work under the Business and Management unit of assessment (UoA 36) for the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008. Among the 90 UK universities submitting work in this UoA, the Portsmouth Business School submitted the 15th largest number of research active staff and was 27th on a weighted quality-basis, placing it as the highest south coast university in the UK and the highest modern university in this category.
The Business and Management panel that is in charge of assessing the outputs of business schools stated that 'the submission contained some work that was internationally excellent or better and this was distributed across all research group'.

Internal links: The department's researchers' knowledge transfer projects are conducted under the umbrella of the Centre for Enterprise Research and Innovation (CERI).

PBS means Business
The department's knowledge transfer activities are primarily conducted through CERI. Our projects are interdisciplinary, founded in partnerships with private and public sector organisations. All are grounded in the research expertise of our lecturers, but stretch us to explore appropriate effective applications.
Resources
The Portsmouth Business School offers its students several Postgraduate Study Areas equipped with computers and printing facilities. Our students can use interactive software packages in areas such as multiple criteria decision making (Expert Choice) fuzzy logic (Matlab) and risk management (@risk).
