Human Resource and Marketing Management (HRMM)

About Us

About our courses and students

Human Resource and Marketing Management (HRMM) at Portsmouth is a thriving department, offering courses to equip graduates with the expertise they need for today's business world and the skills that will be vital in the future.

Our undergraduate programmes include Business Studies and Business Administration. These courses allow graduates to embark upon their careers in a wide range of jobs in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

We also offer more specialised programmes in Marketing and Human Resource Management for those who wish to pursue a career in these functional areas, and the Business with English and Marketing with Business English courses.

An important feature of these courses is that they share a common year of study on key business subjects, and this provides an opportunity to change programmes during this year. In addition, those interested in HRM or Marketing can study the subject with Psychology.

If a career in the hospitality industry is of interest, the Department has highly regarded programmes in Hospitality Management and Tourism.

The Department has an extensive portfolio of postgraduate programmes. In the marketing subject area the MA Marketing and MA Marketing (Digital Media) are offered. For those already working in this discipline, MA Sales Management can be studied, part-time, on a block release basis.

As an Accredited Centre of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), our Postgraduate Diploma leads to CIPD membership in just two years, part-time or two semesters, full-time.

The MSc in HRM can be studied on either a block or day release basis, and takes a further year from completion of the Diploma. In collaboration with corporate partners, the Department also offers MScs in Coaching and Development and Training Management and Consultancy.

Our links with over 600 organisations help to keep courses relevant and intellectually stimulating, while providing undergraduate students with industrial placements. Relevant work experience is an essential part of many of our courses, ensuring that our graduates can offer valuable practical experience to potential employers. Our department is also home to a lively and growing MPhil and PhD research student programme.

Further details of all our programmes are given on the following pages, together with contact details if you would like to discuss any of them in more detail.
