Counter Fraud at the University of Portsmouth
Counter fraud studies covers a vast range of subjects drawing upon: criminology, criminal justice, psychology, law and computing, to name some. Students address key questions such as how much fraud is there? Why do people commit fraud? What works in preventing fraud? And what are best strategies in countering fraud?
The department hosts the largest group of scholars in the UK dedicated to the teaching and researching of countering fraud. Our staff have close contacts with key public and private agencies fighting fraud via the Centre for Counter Fraud Studies. They are also research active publishing regularly on fraud and corruption related issues. As a student in ICJS, you will benefit from this through the huge breadth of our curriculum and our extremely attractive package of optional units encompassing the latest thinking.
The Institute also hosts the Fraud and Corruption Hub which is the largest repository of fraud information in the UK.
We offer a range of courses at the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at every level and through full-time or part-time delivery. The Counter fraud courses are:
