Profile

Steve Savage is Professor of Criminology and Director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, which he founded in 1992. After doctoral research on sociological theory, his research interests focused on the politics of social policy, and subsequently the politics of criminal justice and policing. Recent research has included studies of police governance and police reform, campaigns against miscarriages of justice and crime and illegal immigration. His current research is on the independent investigation of complaints against the police.
