Dr Maebh Harding from the School of Law was presented with the inaugural W.N.Osborough Composition Prize in Legal History by the Irish Society of Legal History at their Spring Discourse on Friday 15th of February 2013. The WN Osborough Composition Prize was awarded in recognition of the significant contribution to the field of Irish Legal History made by Dr. Harding’s piece in 2011 edition of Legal Studies entitled: “The Curious Incident of the Marriage Act (No.2) 1537 and the Irish Statute Book.”
The piece charts how a Tudor Marriage Act framed by Henry VIII in 1537 was lost for centuries and rediscovered in Ireland in 2007. The piece highlights the significance of the Act's rediscovery which potentially annuls hundreds of Irish marriages.
Dr Harding has presented the key points of the article in a stand up comedy routine for London BrightClub which is available at here.
