Dr Panos Kapotas LLB (Athens), LLM (UCL), PhD (LSE)
Panos joined the School of Law in January 2013, having worked as a Fellow at LSE and SOAS and as a Visiting Lecturer at City University London and the University of Essex. He has extensive teaching experience in the field of EU Law and Human Rights Law and he is currently teaching EU Competition Law, EU Law and Private International Law at the School. His research focuses primarily on equality and non-discrimination in Europe, with his PhD thesis examining the normative relationship between positive action and the notion of ‘full equality’ within the framework of EU Law and the European Convention of Human Rights. He has published in the area of gender equality and he is contributing to edited volumes on aspects of European Human Rights Law that will be published in early 2014. He is a regular invited speaker in the Academy of European Law (ERA) in Trier, as an expert on positive action and gender equality. He has presented papers in a number of national and international conferences and workshops, most recently in Sheffield, Brussels, Leeds, Sussex and Modena.
Panos is Level 5 Tutor for 2012-2013 and he is supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
