Charles Barker BA (Hons), MA, Barrister
Charles originally studied History at University of Durham. He took the CPE at the University of Sussex and BVC at the Inns of Court School of Law. Charles was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1997. Charles also holds an MA in Humanities from the Open University.
Career
Charles practised as a barrister in independent practice from 1997 to 2003. In 2003 he took up a post as Assistant Land Registrar at HM Land Registry. While working as an Assistant Land Registrar, Charles developed his interest in legal training and legal education, writing and delivering numerous internal and external training events. Having previously taught as an Associate Lecturer at the Open University, Charles decided to take up teaching full time. Charles joined Portsmouth Business School in 2007.
Teaching and Research Interests
Charles is unit co-ordinator for the undergraduate units Land Law, Art of Persuasion and Current Legal Issues.
Administrative Role
Since August 2008 Charles has been Director of Postgraduate Law Programmes within the School of Law.

Charles is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.
