Occupational Health and Safety Management Courses by Distance Learning
Teaching and Assessment
You will be allocated a tutor for each unit of study that will support you in your academic development. The university encourages you to make personal visits and keep in contact with your tutor during your studies.
MSc students are encouraged to attend the induction and research methods sessions to meet our staff and other students. We believe that staff student interaction and collaboration is one of the key elements to your success.
If you have either an appropriate experience and proven aptitude in health & safety, or a certificated professional/vocational qualification, we welcome you to study with us. If English is not your first language, a higher degree and a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite. You must have access to a computer and the Internet to access course material and learning modules. It is advised that you devote 10 hours per week to study, but with distance learning, you have the flexibility to choose when and where this takes place.
In addition to this flexibility, distance learning offers:
- Access to the University's Library Catalogueand services with an extensive range of academic material
- Professional support from experienced tutors and administration staff
- Access to University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) providing you with direct access to a wide range of journals to download and read in your own home, as well as on-line discussions with tutors, fellow students and lecturers
You will be asked to write between 3000-4000 word assignments using reference books, tutor guidance, research skills and your own work experiences.
