Supportability Engineering - MSc, PgDiploma, PgCert

Available through our Collaborative Programmes, Logistics Support Analysts and the University of Portsmouth are pleased to provide a Master of Science, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in Supportability Engineering.

Respected and Highly-Relevant Professional Qualification

The original MSc in Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) was the first professional qualification of direct relevance to the current and future needs of logisticians and their organizations. The course has now evolved to provide a progressive programme of professional qualification.

Entry Requirements
  • 5 or more years of relevant industrial experience, OR
  • First degree (BSc, BA), OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

Choice of Progressive Programmes

Students can choose the format of degree which suits them best. Students can:

  • Enrol directly for the MSc.
  • Enrol for a Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) or Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip).
  • Take a stepped progression through the postgraduate awards:
    Gain a PgCert, then top-up to PgDip, and finally top-up to the MSc.
  • Build on appropriate postgraduate credits gained from other courses.

As you progress through the course you can, within reason, adjust the sequence of timing of study units to suit your personal and business needs.

Core Subjects

Each course contains a set of core units in important areas.

Choice of Specialisations

You then choose 3 specialisations in areas of direct relevance to your needs.

Work-Based Project

Finally (for the MSc), you choose a work-based project, designed to exercise, expand, and apply your skills directly to problems in your core area of interest.

Building Up to the MSc

Students have the choice of taking a step-by-step progression through the available qualifications, starting with the PgCert, progressing through the PgDip, and finally taking the MSc as a top-up degree.

Open Days

Open days are run at regular intervals to discuss issues arising on the Postgraduate Programme. These are informal events, and anybody interested in the Supportability Engineering Programme is welcome to attend. Staff running the Postgraduate Programme will be present, as will a number of students.
