Time: 8-10pm
Venue: Le Café Parisien, 1 Lord Montgomery Way, Portsmouth, PO1 2AH
Galaxies are the beacons that light up the universe and make its structure accessible to observations. They are the sites in the universe where stars and planets form, live and evolve. Observations indicate that the most massive galaxies in the universe must have been the first to form - more than ten billion years ago in a very young universe. This seriously challenges our current understanding of galaxy formation. Do we need to intervene at the very basics of well established physics and modify Newton's and Einstein's laws of gravity? Join us as Dr Daniel Thomas, from the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, explores the issue.
Participation is free and open to all. No booking is necessary. There is an excellent supper menu at the Cafe, 6-8pm, before the session starts.
