Abstract: I will review some conjectural connections between the statistical distribution of the zeros of the Riemann zeta function and that of the eigenvalues of random matrices. I will then describe some recent extensions of these ideas to long-standing problems relating to the distribution of values taken by the zeta function on the critical line, where the Riemann Hypothesis places the zeros. |
