Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics is running Mathematics Masterclasses for Year 8 school pupils.

Approximately 40 Year 8 students from 8 local schools will attend each session.

The session is organised primarily by Gina Hall (Mayfield School). Sessions led by Sue Pope, St. Martins, Lancaster (http://www.ucsm.ac.uk), and Barbara Ball (http://www.atm.org.uk/professionalofficer/index.html), Professional Officer of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (http://www.atm.org.uk).

The Masterclasses are designed to enthuse and engage young people in Mathematics and encourage them to further their mathematical studies.  The Masterclasses have been designed with, and are run in conjunction with, local Mathematics school teachers.
