Diagnostic Testing for the Mathematical Sciences

The use of diagnostic tests to assess the mathematical skills of students entering university is widespread, both for those who wish to study mathematical sciences and for those whose degree programme is highly quantitative. The practicalities of setting up large scale testing, combined with effective support following the testing, present significant challenges. This meeting will provide an opportunity to learn how effective diagnostic testing has been implemented in several HEI and to discuss the problems and issues surrounding effective testing.
