Free Event: One Day Workshop on Operational Research in Logistics and Transportation

The University of Poprtsmouth, Department of Mathematics, is running a free one-day workshop that analyses and evaluates operational issues in the logistics and transportation sector. Guest speakers from the University of Lille, Newcastle University and the University of Portsmouth will perform talks on their finidings and recommendations to overcome such issues in this industry.

The event is jointly supported by the Southern Operational Research Group (SORG) and the University of Portsmouth, Department of Mathematics. The organisers will be Djamila Ouelhadj and Dylan Jones, from the University of Portsmouth, Department of Mathematics and will be providing further information on the event should you need it.

9:30-10:30 Speaker 1:  Prof El Ghazali Talbi, Meta-heuristics for dynamic vehicle routing problems, University of Lille - INRIA – CNRS, France.
10:30-11:30 Speaker 2: Dr Fraser McLeod, Dynamic scheduling in Logistics, Southampton University.
11:30-11:45  Coffee break.
11:45-12:45 Speaker 3: Dr Paul Stott, The wider consequences of the expansion of the Panama Canal, Newcastle University.
12:45-13:30 Lunch.
13:30-14:30 Speaker 4: Dr Güneş Erdoğan, The bicycle repositioning problem with demand intervals, Southampton University.
14:30-14:45 Coffee break.
14:45-15:45 Speaker 5: Dr Jana Ries, A vehicle routing problem with dynamic multiple depots in the construction industry, Portsmouth University.
15:45-16:30 Closure

Note: We supply coffee and lunch on Friday but the rest (accommodation, travel) needs to come from your own expenses.
