Spray Drier

Spray-Drier

Spray drying is a procedure where an aqueous solution can be removed from a product to give a fine powder in the micrometre-diameter range. In one example, we have used the spray drier to produce dry powders of heparin that can be used as a possible inhaled drug delivery therapy for cystic fibrosis patients. The particle size, which is important as it defines the airway target structure, can be controlled from the instrument parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rate, liquid pump speed).

Our instrument is a Buchii B-290 Spray Drier. It is not fitted for use with organic solvents.
