On the 24th September 2012, the University of Portsmouth celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Biophysics Laboratories at Portsmouth. The anniversary was celebrated at a meeting involving about 100 alumni, including colleagues from as far afield as Europe, the USA and Australia. Prof. David Allis, a world-leader in chromatin research from the Rockefeller University, gave the plenary lecture. The Biophysics group continues its focus on gene regulation, including research on the structures of gene control proteins and gene regulation, together with broader themes in developmental biology and molecular medicine.
