Mini-conference on Primate Enculturation - 15 June 2011

Situated Action and Communication: Autism Interventions - 9 July 2010
Following the success of the first meeting in November 2009, the Situated Action and Communication Research Group organized the second seminar of these series which focused on integrating approaches to autism interventions, held in Portsmouth on 9th July 2010. This was an opportunity for autism researchers, parents and practitioners to discuss the latest developments in autism interventions.

Situated Action and Communication: Self and Autism workshop - 16 - 17 November 2009
The Research Group "Situated Action and Communication" organised a workshop on Self and Autism at the University of Portsmouth on 16th and 17th November 2009.
The workshop was the first of a research seminar series sponsored by the BPS entitled 'Experimental methods and theoretical confusion: Examining current controversies in autism research'. Speakers included a range of leading psychologists, philosophers and practitioners.
This project aims to contribute to knowledge about the significance of language diversity for the diversity of cultural experiences. We are interested in whether the particular language somebody speaks makes an important difference to the way they lead their life.

International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology
The International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology organised a research seminar series (in collaboration with Dr Fiona Gabbert, University of Abertay, and Dr Dan Wright, University of Sussex) which tackled a topic at the forefront of memory research - namely the extent to which acts of remembering are a function of the contexts in which they occur and how this impacts practice in a number of applied areas (e.g., police interviews, group learning in education contexts).
