Profile
Background
I work two days per week in the Department as an Associate Lecturer. In addition to working at the University I am also a Systemic Psychotherapist. My therapeutic work is primarily with adults with Intellectual Disabilities (Learning Disabilities) and their systems of significant relationships.
Teaching Responsibilities
Much of my work is with the MSc Applied Psychology of Intellectual Disabilities programme and I am unit co-ordinator for 'Intellectual Disability and Supporting Families' and ‘Participatory and Enabling Practices’. I supervise MSc research dissertations, particularly those employing qualitative methods. I am also unit co-ordinator for the unit ‘Applying Psychology’ on the combined honours programme.
Research
My current research interests include the discursive analysis of referrals of men and women with Intellectual Disability to specialist health services and the use of systemic and social constructionist therapy and consultation in consulting to families as well as organisations.
