BPS Accreditation
Our undergraduate programmes are accredited by the British Psychology Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) provided the minimum standard of qualification of second class honours is achieved. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. An accredited degree is required if you want to pursue a career in Forensic Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Occupational Psychology.
BPS Wessex Branch Solent Hub
In 2012 Portsmouth was announced as the new geographical centre and contact for the BPS Wessex Branch Solent Hub. The Wessex Hub encourages an interest in psychology throughout the local region. This means that as the Wessex Hub contact we will be organising and hosting various seminars for the BPS. As a student if you choose to become a member of the BPS then you automatically become a member of the Wessex Hub. You will be invited to get involved as it is a fantastic opportunity to network with psychologists in the local area. Check out the BPS website for details of the Wessex Hub and events in the Wessex region.

PsychSoc
The Psychology Society (PsychSoc) is a student led group within the department who organise and run events and activities to help enhance your time as a student here. PsychSoc is both academic and social, providing an alternative look at the world of psychology. It provides opportunities for you to interact with those on your course outside of teaching hours and encourages conversation between year groups and across degree courses. Events organised by PsychSoc have included pub quizzes, comedy nights and summer balls, as well as organising guest lecturers and debates about current issues in psychology. All students from the start to end of their degree are encouraged to get involved.
