Profile
| MA (Sussex) | PhD (Sussex) |
I am a writer, primarily in poetry and poetics. I have given many readings featuring my first collection of poems Dark Hill Dreams and I intend to continue with my new collection Scrying Stone. Public readings are crucial in the process of writing as living work. My research interests centre around the establishment of a coherent direction for Creative Writing pedagogy, in which the critical and creative registers of writing will be synthesised.
It is an imperative of Creative Writing that it emerges (from its roots in English Literature) with a distinct conceptual style and flavour, in which literary writing can encompass both the creatively critical and the critically creative. I am the Editor of the London Magazine (Britain’s oldest literary journal) and as such I am fully engaged with the world of critical and creative writing. Furthermore, within this compass I am pursuing a project to enunciate the shared heritage of oriental and occidental poetry. I also intend to attend a number of literary, humanities and poetry conferences and give incremental papers.
Current Research[Back to top]
I hope to publish three volumes of post war London Magazine poetry over the next three years. I am in negotiations with a number of publishers with this aim.
