Environmental Laboratory |
This laboratory holds all of the typical analytical equipment required for executing simple water tests, such as biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, nutrient analysis, pH and conductivity. We also have facilities for preparing soil and water samples for analysis and for analysing hydrocarbon pollution.

During laboratory classes, undergraduates learn the basic tests for assessing the strength and treatability of wastewaters using some of the tests listed above. Microbiological monitoring of seawater for the bathing directive is undertaken. The analyses are undertaken with 'real' wastewaters offering students the experience of actual sampling and the extent of the variants associated with environmental analysis.
