Teacher training with a PGCE at Portsmouth

At Portsmouth, the PGCE is a one-year course that enables its trainees to become able, confident teachers with strong subject knowledge and the ability to reflect on what it means to teach. With a positive review from Ofsted for our teacher training programmes, close links with many schools in the south of the UK and excellent feedback from our graduates, Portsmouth is ideal for your training.
We award the primary PGCE for the Portsmouth SCITT, and provide subject-based PGCEs in six subjects:
- PGCE English
- PGCE Geography
- PGCE Mathematics
- PGCE Modern Foreign Languages (includes opportunity to study for a double diploma in Paris)
- PGCE Science
- PGCE Business Studies (for 14-19 years)
Additionally, our PGCE in Post Compulsory Education will allow you to train to teach in further education environments.
