QuAAtro
The QuAAtro is the latest generation of segmented flow analysis (SFA) systems from Seal Analytical. We have ours configured to measure the five main macronutrients for algal growth.
Colourimetry is used to measure nitrate, nitrite, phosphate and dissolved silicon concentrations in any filtered water samples while ammonium is measured fluorometrically.
Currently the main use of this instrument is the analysis of seawater samples as part of a NERC/Defra funded project studying sediment-water column nutrient exchange in coastal and shelf-sea waters.
For availability or other information regarding the QuAAtro contact Dr Fay Couceiro - fay.couceiro@port.ac.uk
The QuAAtro is capable of directly measuring the following nutrients at these ranges:
Nitrate: 0.02 – 250 µmol/L
Nitrite: 0.01 – 40 µmol/L
Ammonium: 0.01 – 5 µmol/L (also see Field Fluorometer)
Phosphate: 0.01 – 4 µmol/L
Dissolved Silica: 0.01 – 165 µmol/L
