Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES)

Fieldwork

Fieldwork is an integral part of all the courses at Portsmouth. Field activities provide the chance for classroom and laboratory-based learning to be applied in the field, enabling students to gain substantial practical experience providing important skills for their independent research project for entry into the workplace. UK and overseas fieldtrips are a core part of all of the University's Geoscience, Applied Geoscience and Environmental Degrees, in addition a range of optional UK and international fieldwork trips are available, which also provide opportunities for students to broaden their geoscience knowledge.

The costs of fieldwork are heavily subsidised by the University. Click here for more information relating to the costs of fieldwork and equipment.
