Part time study and career development

Part time study mode is available on Engineering Geology, Contaminated Land and Geological and Environmental Hazards MSc courses. To facilitate part time study and allow those currently in employment to attend the courses on a day release basis, teaching is timetabled over one day per week for part time study and two days per week for full time study, as follows:

1 year full time course:Lectures and practicals are held over two days a week (Monday and Tuesday).
2 year part time course: Lectures and practicals held on one day a week (Monday in year one and then Tuesday in year 2).

The part time teaching timetable is a valuable method of career development, with increasing numbers of students in employment choosing this part time study route. For more information please come along to one of our postgraduate open days or contact the Admissions Tutor.

“The structure of the applied geology MSc programme at Portsmouth is perfectly set up for part time study, which allowed me to continue my employment as a geoscientist while furthering my academic qualifications at the same time.”
