PALS is a Patient Advice and Liaison Service which offers information, advice and support to patients, their families, friends and carers. This confidential service allows the public to be more informed about health care choices as well as being able to feedback concerns and complaints to the Trust.

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit organisation, providing up-to-date information on the effects of health care. The UK Cochrane Centre was established in 1992, and includes the Cochrane Library, an electronic database designed to provide high quality evidence to inform people providing and receiving health care, as well as those involved in research and teaching.
The National Research Ethics Service
The National Research Ethics Service (NRES) acts on behalf of the Department of Health in England to provide guidance and support for NHS Research Ethics Committees (RECs). Research Ethics Committees have been established throughout the UK for many years with the purpose of safeguarding the rights, dignity and welfare of people participating in research in the NHS.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) provides guidance to improve the quality of care and treatments available for patients. The needs of patients, carers and the public are at the heart of the NICE guidance, and NICE seeks to involve patients, carers and the public in a range of opportunities in its development.
The NHS Research and Development Forum is an organisation for individuals and departments involved in the management and planning of research in health and social care, by facilitating and encouraging the sharing of best practice.
