Profile
I was one of the first four full time degree trained radiographers in the country to graduate from the University of Portsmouth. My clinical career started at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester where I specialised in Computed Tomography (CT), obtaining my MSc in Medical Imaging, with CT accreditation, again at the University of Portsmouth.
I subsequently expanded my experience by moving to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth where I became involved in the installation of computed radiography (CR) and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS), as well as consolidating my knowledge of CT. During this time I also undertook a postgraduate course in radiographer reporting and actively reported appendicular trauma radiographs for several years.
In 2000 I accepted a post as lecturer at City University in London where I obtained my Introductory Certificate in HE and Academy membership. Late in 2002 I moved to the University of Portsmouth as a senior lecturer. My current responsibilities are course leader for the BSc (Hons) Radiography programme and Widening Participation co-ordinator for the Science Faculty.
In September 2010 I completed my PhD within the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth, exploring factors potentially affecting the perception and interpretation of medical images used in Higher Education.
