Profile
I graduated in 1994 with a Masters degree in Social Work and as a qualified social worker. I joined the School of Health Sciences and Social Work in March 2008 as a Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Social Pedagogy. Prior to teaching at the University of Portsmouth I was a manager of an integrated residential and fostering service for adolescents with risk taking behaviour. I have extensive experience as a manager and social worker in both local authority and voluntary agency settings. I remain involved in the assessment and approval of foster carers.
I teach across the undergraduate and post graduate courses in areas related to Children's Services. I also have interests in the educational use of social media, using creativity in practice, spirituality, and child and adolescent psychology. As a teacher I am committed to the integration and application of knowledge and research into practice.
I am currently undertaking my professional doctorate.
