Profile

I have a BA in English and Comparative Literature and an MA in Literary Translation from the University of East Anglia and a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Portsmouth. After completing my PhD, I taught Translation Studies at the University of Exeter and the University of Hull before joining Portsmouth as a lecturer in 2012.

The focus of my teaching is the theory and practice of translation. I contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in this area. I also contribute to French language teaching and study skills.

My research is concerned with the relationship between translation and other forms of cultural production. I work in the areas of literary translation and audio-visual translation. I am currently working on the relationship between film remakes and translation. My research interests also include retranslation, the translation of multimodal texts (comic books, games, etc.) and the translation of detective fiction.
