Profile

I am a Principle Lecturer in Biomechanics and the Biomechanics division leader. I am BASES accredited in Biomechanics Sports Science Support.

The biomechanics division at the University of Portsmouth is a dynamic section that promotes applied sport biomechanics and aims to give students 'hands on' experience in using biomechanical tools. We have just moved into our new multi-million pound laboratory, our department is rapidly expanding and I really enjoy working here! My research interests are in the area of breast biomechanics and we are establishing a research group in this area. This research group has three main objectives, applied research, fundamental research and clinical support. Following extensive research into the biomechanics of the breast during physical activity, our research has grown substantially over recent years, to include academics, researchers and postgraduate students.

I recently headed up a collaborative research project with a major Sports Bra manufacturer, studying the biomechanics of breasts and the effectiveness of Sports bras. This research gained national and international media coverage and has led to ongoing research collaborations.
