Profile

Background

I am currently a full-time PhD student in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science. Prior to this I graduated from an undergraduate BSc in Sport and Exercise Science in 2010. Following this I completed a Masters by Research in the area of Thermal Physiology which focused on the effects of pre-cooling on skin blood flow during exercise in a hyperthermic environment. Within the last year I have worked as a Sports Lecturer at a college in which time I attained a PGCE (Post-Compulsory Education and Training). Outside of my academic studies I have worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor for the last 18 months.

Research Interests

I am particularly interested in how the environmental temperature can be debilitative to an individual’s health and exercise performance. The research conducted within my Masters was mainly exercise focused; however, my PhD will be focused more on occupational and medical concern with the project researching cold sensitivity in different ethnic populations.
