Profile
Background
I am currently a part-time PhD student whilst also a full-time lecturer at Sparsholt College. I graduated from the University of the West of England in June 2008, having completed an MSc in Equine Science after a 20 year career as an international competition groom and equestrian coach. I am extremely privileged that my passion for all things equestrian fuels both my career and pastimes.
Research Interests
Throughout my career, I have always been fascinated by the interactions between the equestrian athlete and their equine sporting partner. I have recently started my PhD which focuses on investigating the coaching process in both horse and rider within the Olympic discipline of Dressage. The project will involve identifying the sources of stress and associated coping strategies in the equestrian athlete whilst investigating the effects of coaching on a wide range of physiological and psychological parameters in competitive equestrian partnerships.
