The FdA Government and FdA Local Government are the premier work-based qualifications for Civil Service and local government staff seeking professional development.  Delivered through a proven online learning model by the Centre for Distributed Learning at the University of Portsmouth, these courses enhance public management experience with relevant information and skills to benefit student and employer alike. 

Our distance learning model includes initial face-to-face interaction, ensuring students and lecturers get to know each other, before offering students an online community in which to learn and interact with teaching staff and other students whilst continuing with their public sector work.  Both curricula are designed to meet the demands of the Leitch report. In addition, the FDA government was developed to respond to the Professional Skills in Government agenda and the FdA Local Government was closely informed by extensive stakeholder consultation.
