Journalism at Portsmouth offers you an undergraduate course, in an NCTJ-approved exam centre, that offers access to industry-standard technology and a teaching team that unites Fleet Street experience with academic insight.
You will study a range of practical training units to develop the skills in research, writing, editing and the law as it will apply to you. Alongside these courses, we provide reflective units that allow you to consider the intellectual foundations of journalism, and options in every year to tailor your study to the area that most interests you, whether print, web or broadcast, lifestyle, sport or news.
Throughout your degree, you will learn how to operate both in the field, and in our specially-designed newsroom.
In your final year, you will be working toward a portfolio of materials to showcase your abilities, completing a work placement, and honing the the professional skills needed by the career you are aiming for.
