School of Social, Historical and Literary Studies

MA and PhD Study

MA and PhD Study is offered on a full-time and a part-time basis.  In the past, students have been financed on a scholarship and self-funding basis. Competitive bursaries are available through the Centre for European and International Studies Research (CEISR).

During the first phase of their studies, research students acquire and develop the empirical, analytical and theoretical tools that enable them to establish the foundations of their theses. In the second phase of their studies, students focus exclusively on their theses, taking advantage of specialist support and guidance is provided by their main supervisor and an additional supervisory team.  Students also participate in the thriving post-graduate research culture provided by CEISR, including a regular series of research lectures and seminars and post-graduate study sessions.
