Profile

Dr Barry O’Shea has been a journalist since the days he had hair, more than 30 years ago. He has been a reporter, a sub and even an editor. Most of his working life was spent on daily newspapers and he is euphemistically described as a hard news man. While working as a journalist he took an Open University degree and achieved a distinction in comparative history. He also holds a PhD, also from the OU. His primary research interests are propaganda and censorship. He is Course Leader in Journalism at the University of Portsmouth, where he oversees five degrees.
