Profile

My research is concerned with the intellectual history of the Enlightenment. I have published articles on Bernard Mandeville, David Hume, and eighteenth-century labour theory, and am  the editor of Politics and Tea, part of the Pickering and Chatto collection, Tea and the Tea-Table in Eighteenth-Century England.

Current Research Projects

Enlightenment and Labour (a book-length monograph which looks at ideas of labour and the labourer in eighteenth-century social and political theory).

‘Inhabiting Wilkes’ (an article on the Wilkite publisher William Bingley).

Visions of History 1680-1830 (Under contract with Palgrave Macmillan and forthcoming in 2014).
