Background

Meo Enterprises Ltd was incorporated in March 2007, following several years of development.  Tim Meo, Director, has been involved with running a small business since the age of 12.  Starting off by selling used computer parts, Tim started to move his business towards the marine market when he discovered a passion for being out on the water, whilst studying his GCSE's.  He came to University of Portsmouth primarily due to its proximity to the water and secondly because of the facilities the Portsmouth Centre for Enterprise (PCE)  had to offer.  Tim rapidly became involved with the local boating scene and soon realised there were a number of opportunities which he could capitalise on.

Tim has been involved with the Centre for Enterprise since he first arrived at the University, studying a number of units there as part of his degree - Enterprise in e-business. He took full advantage of the services on offer at the beginning of his second year, when he had the opportunity to buy a powerboat charter business.  With guidance from his business mentor, he successfully took over the business in February 2007, moving into one of the student development units at the same time.  Tim took on another exciting opportunity shortly after this; his company now conducts all South Coast operations for one of the leading marine valeting and maintenance companies in the South East.

Future Development

Tim is currently looking to expand the charter side of the business for the 2008 season and beyond.  The boat maintenance side of he business is growing at a steady pace and Tim is planning to take someone on to help run this later on in the year.
