As a CCi Student you can sign up for creative workshops and activities.  Workshops and activities are free for students although you may have to pay a small refundable deposit to secure your booking.

You can do one-to-one or small group workshops in areas such as:

  • Film, TV and video editing: AVID, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro 7
  • CCi Television Studio use
  • Post production and special effects software: After Effects
  • Life drawing, observational drawing and perspective drawing.

We currently offer ongoing sessions for:

Life Drawing

The CCI Skills Centre will be hosting a free life drawing workshop for CCi students, each Wednesday afternoon throughout the term. Students should register to attend in advance via Eventbrite. More sessions will be advertised as the term progresses.

Full venue details will be sent to you on the confirmation email once you have registered for a session.

Please note you will need to bring:

  • Yourself 10 minutes early
  • Some charcoal and some A1 or A2 paper - although there will be plenty of opportunity for you to work with your preferred medium and paper format.

Cosmology TV Show

A four weekly 5 minute TV show for students to produce and run, in collaboration with the school of Cosmology and Gravitation.  Students can get involved in the producing of this 4 weekly show regardless of experience.  A great opportunity to get involved in extra editing, graphics, filming and, more importantly, video credits for your CV!

CCi Skills Bank: Live Projects - TV Production

The faculty of CCi is involved in ongoing paid and unpaid media production for both internal and external clients.  The Media production team are able offer places for students to get involved in real-world video projects.  Even if you have no previous experience you can apply to be part of the production team. Roles will be in a range of disciplines from cable running through to editing and studio management.

Please send a CV and a cover letter explaining your area of interest to CCiSkills@port.ac.uk to be added to the CCi Skills Bank. Other events and workshops will be listed and promoted as they become available.

There are drop -in sessions (see below), one to one bookable sessions, small group sessions, and online sessions available, all tailored to suit your needs. If we are unable to help you with your enquiry, we will direct you to the appropriate student support service.
