Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI)

Research centres
Executive Director: Dr Jenny Walden (Jenny.Walden@port.ac.uk)

CCi research lies at the cutting edge of the creative industries, combining theoretical advances with practical applications through Knowledge Transfer.

Research in the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries is organised within three distinct but complementary centres:

Centre for Art, Architecture and Design

Director: Professor Lorraine Farrelly
(Lorraine.Farrelly@port.ac.uk)

CAAD supports and advances research across the range of art, design, architectural and media practices. Research in the Centre is concerned with the application of critical, theoretical and historical perspectives to these practices, in the recognition that art, design, architecture and media re-present social and cultural meanings and their potential transformation.

Centre for Cultural and Creative Research

Director: Dr Lincoln Geraghty
(Lincoln.Geraghty@port.ac.uk)

CCCR advances research across the cultural industries and creative arts, applying a wide range of analytic, critical, historical perspectives to the examination of creative writing, film, media, music, performance, television, and theatre.

Centre for Cultural and Industrial Technologies Research

Director: Dr David Anderson
(David.Anderson@port.ac.uk)

Research in CiTech falls mainly into two strands: the application of advanced computer-based technologies in a wide range of domains (healthcare, defence & security, education, entertainment, knowledge management, science etc.) and research into the creative technologies themselves and their impact on society.

The research in these Centres is supported by the CCi Research Office (Mercantile House 7.06), staffed by Sarah Eaton (Faculty Research Administrator).
