Sue Crabb, Senior Lecturer in Radiography, has been awarded an MA in Learning and Teaching from the University of Portsmouth which was supported by the Head of the School of Health Sciences and Social Work.
Sue has also recently presented an e-poster at the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) conference in Lyon. The purpose of this poster presentation was to show case the results of her dissertation entitled, “Maximising Learning Opportunities in a Changing Clinical Practice Environment: A model for learning in a Simulated Practice Environment within a BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree.” The dissertation explored the benefits of a model of learning developed in simulation within the BSc (Hons) Radiography (Diagnostic) degree. The model was designed to support students transfer between university and clinical placement and to facilitate deep learning.
This was the first time that e-posters had been exhibited at the conference. The e-poster allowed detailed information to be provided and the evidence base from the dissertation to be presented. The conference was attended by 3,500 medical educators from around the world. An accompanying presentation was given and delegates could also access the poster via tablets and android phones whilst attending the conference. The poster was commended as best in group.
The delegates crossed professional boundaries with the majority being from medicine. The poster and presentation were well received and generated thought provoking discussion.
