A team of academics in the School of Health Science and Social Work, consisting of Professor Tara Dean, Dr Heather Mackenzie, Dr Sally Kilburn and Dr Carina Venter, have been successfully awarded a tender from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for £90,000.
This project will involve conducting a series of systematic reviews which will bring together the evidence on the prevalence and natural history of food allergies across Europe. It will also explore the effect of food processing on the allergenicity of foods. This is a fantastic opportunity for the School to apply its experience of conducting systematic reviews with its research expertise in the epidemiology of food allergy. The team are very much looking forward to working closely with the team at EFSA.
