I’m here to assist you in developing your academic skills, whether in researching, writing, presenting, understanding feedback or revising, organising your work load and any other academic skills. If I can’t provide the support that you need, I can point you in the direction of the people who can help.

Some things I can work on with you are-
- Essay/report/ project writing techniques
- Making the most of feedback
- Presentation skills
- Organising and planning your work load
- Referencing and avoiding plagiarism
- Pointing you in the direction of the best people to help you
What is available?
There are drop in sessions, one to one bookable sessions and small group sessions available, all tailored to suit your needs. We also run a selection of workshops.
Who can attend?
Anyone studying in the Faculty of Science is very welcome. Both undergraduates and postgraduates are welcome as are people on placements.
How do I book?
Group sessions are booked by email
Drop in sessions don’t need to be booked, just turn up.
What do I need do?
Bring any relevant work, or documents with you. This can be something like an essay title, a marked piece of work, course documents, finished work, or a research article, anything you think will be useful to help you explain your needs. I can’t proof read work for you, but will look at a small section of your work the help with style, organisation etc. I also can’t be an audience for rehearsing presentations, but can help you with the skills you need to make a presentation.
Where do I go?
My sessions are in room JW0.310, on the ground floor of the James Watson Building. On entering the building, follow the corridor straight ahead, past reception and the Board Room. My office is on the left. Occasionally group sessions will be in another room on that floor, but I will tell you in advance if that is the case.
