1-1 Support Online, for distance learners, students on placement and students who are rarely on-campus

Are you a distance learner, on placement or rarely on campus? You can still get help with assignments and presentations by talking to the Learning Support tutor through using Moodle.

Big Blue Button on Moodle is a web-based classroom. This means that you can now book a session with the Learning Support tutor from anywhere and have the meeting online.

To do this you’ll need a webcam, speakers and mic on your computer or laptop (headsets are preferable to in-built mic and speakers, because the quality is far better).

How to book and use Big Blue Button Sessions

To arrange an online session, just book an appointment using the usual online booking system (here) and fill in the online questionnaire. In the questionnaire, the final question asks if there’s anything else you’d like to mention before the session. Please write here that you want this to be a web-based session.

The tutor will send you a link to the session. At the appointment time, log in to Moodle, click the link, and click accept to the questions it asks. Instructions on how to use Big Blue Button are here- http://moodle.port.ac.uk/mod/page/view.php?id=33382
