Profile
Profile
I am currently the Learning Support Tutor for the faculty of Science. Appointed in 2011, I have previously been involved in teaching science based subjects in a number of Universities in the UK. At Brunel University (1994 -1999) I contributed seminar workshops and tutorials to the B.Sc. Medical Biochemistry and M.Sc. Medical Molecular Biology courses, supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. At Imperial College London, in the Oncology Department (currently Department of Surgery and Cancer), I delivered lectures on the B.Sc. Biochemistry and the M.Sc. Molecular Medicine courses and tutorials on the M.Sc. Medical Genetics course (1999 – 2007). I also supervised the projects of many M.Sc. and Ph.D. students at Imperial College.
My background is in molecular biology, particularly DNA responses to environmental factors and prostate cancer research. I have worked as a research scientist at Brunel University and Imperial College London. Projects based on my work have attracted funding from AICR (two awards), The Prostate Cancer Charity UK (3 awards), NTRAC (2 awards) and I have been co-author on 5 successful funding bids, resulting in £630,000 funding. I was also awarded funding of £40,000 as P.I. to employ a research assistant from the British Prostate Research Campaign UK.
I am currently a member of AldinHE
