Portsmouth Business School

The School offers a wide range of full-time and part-time courses for students and professionals wanting to enhance their professional development at whatever stage of their career. The courses range from part-time work-based Foundation Degrees to postgraduate programmes including our AMBA accredited Master of Business Administration for executive managers wishing to broaden their knowledge and the Doctorate in Business Administration which is an applied work-based doctoral research degree.

Most of our programmes have been accredited by professional bodies and the Portsmouth Business School is recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

In the most recent National Student Survey, the University of Portsmouth achieved one of the highest ratings for overall student satisfaction of the south coast universities and this places us in the top 25% of mainstream universities in England. In the broad Business & Administrative category (which includes business studies, marketing, human resource management, finance, accounting and hospitality management), we scored 88% for overall student satisfaction. Within this category we scored 100% for Finance and 97% for Accounting which places Portsmouth in the top five universities offering these subjects. For Law we scored 95% and Economics 83% for overall student satisfaction.

Portsmouth Business School which lies right in the heart of the city, has in the region of 4000 students (1000 of whom are postgraduate students) from all over the world. It is housed in the striking purpose-built Richmond Building which was officially opened by the Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, in 2004. It is one of five faculties of the University of Portsmouth which offers a modern diverse campus and takes pride in its reputation among students for the friendliness and approachability of its staff and for the provision of a well structured learning environment.
