Dr Alexandros Apostolakis BSc (Plymouth), MSc (Portsmouth), PhD (Portsmouth)
Dr. Apostolakis joined the Business School as a lecturer in October 2005.
Teaching Areas: His main teaching areas are in Applied Economics, Managerial Economics, Tourism Economics and Management, Cultural Economics and the Economics of Technological Innovation.
Research Areas and Expertise: Dr. Apostolakis’s research interests are in Tourism Economics and Management, Cultural Economics and Management, Managerial Economics, Defence and Peace Economics, and Local and Regional Economics. His research expertise focuses on stated preferences discrete choice modelling, hedonic price analysis and survey questionnaire analysis. Dr. Apostolakis has published in many leading academic journals (such as: the Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Economics, Defence and Peace Economics, Journal of Cultural Economics and others). He has also acted as reviewer in many leading academic journals in Economics (such as: the Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Tourism Economics, Journal of Cultural Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Environmental Management) and prestigious research organisations (Economic and Social Sciences Research Council).
Research Supervision: Alexandros has been supervising PhD students from a wide range of backgrounds. He has supervised topics on Hospitality Management, Cultural Entrepreneurship, Environmental Resource Economics, and Sustainable Energy Management.
Management Responsibilities: Dr Apostolakis has been Welfare tutor for all undergraduate programmes in Economics (Year 2), and director of dissertations for all postgraduate programmes in the Economics department.
Major Grants Awarded: Alexandros has secured funding from prestigious research organisations (British Academy), as well as from private clients (such as: Chichester District Council, South East England Development Council, Rolls Royce and others).

Wednesdays 11.00 – 12.00, Thursdays 10.00 – 11.00 and other times by appointment.
