Christos Floros BSc (University of Brighton), MA (University of Portsmouth), MSc (University of Portsmouth), Ph.D. (University of Wales Swansea)

Christos joined the Department of Economics as a Lecturer in January 2005, having previously held a research position at CEMARE. He teaches a wide range of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. His main teaching interests include financial economics, corporate finance and banking.

His main research interests include behavioural finance, financial derivatives (futures and options markets), financial econometrics (forecasting realized volatility, VaR modelling) and banking (efficiency, competition and profitability). He has published in academic journals such as International Review of Financial Analysis, Applied Financial Economics, Journal of Emerging Market Finance, Journal of Economic Studies, Managerial Finance, Studies in Economics and Finance, Financial Markets and Portfolio Management, Applied Financial Economics Letters, Journal of Money, Investment and Banking, and Derivatives, Use Trading and Regulation, among others. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Financial Markets and Derivatives (IJFMD) and International Journal of Computational Economics and Econometrics (IJCEE). He has been a Guest Editor for a Special Issue on “The Greek financial market: 1999-2001” (Managerial Finance, vol. 34 No.9, 2008). Christos is supervising research students in the areas of Empirical Finance and Banking, while he has been involved in a number of research funded projects including a Marie Curie FP7 project on “Volatility forecasting evaluation based on loss function with well-defined multivariate distributional form and ultra high frequency datasets”. He is a member of the editorial boards for the International Journal of Trade in Services, International Journal of Innovative Research in Science and Techniques, and Panoeconomicus. He acts as an ad-hoc reviewer for a number of academic journals including the Applied Financial Economics, Studies in Economics and Finance, Tourism Management, Asia Pacific Management Review, Research in International Business and Finance, Journal of Economic Studies, Bulletin of Economic Research, Journal of Economics and Business, Economics and Politics, International Journal of the Economics of Business, and Applied Economics. In addition, he is a regular reviewer for Routledge, Wiley, Cambridge University Press, and Prentice Hall. Christos has also presented several papers at international academic conferences in UK, Greece, Portugal, Italy, France, Ireland, Spain and elsewhere. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

He is also an Associate member of the Centre for the Economics and Management of Aquatic Resources (CEMARE) which is a specialised research centre within the Department of Economics at the University of Portsmouth.
