Ken Heather - BSc Econ(Soton)

Ken Heather is a micro-economist who specialises in business and industrial economics. He is also interested in the teaching of introductory economics but he has taught on a large variety of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has also researched the relationship of economic theory to Christianity. He has taught in a number of different countries in Europe.
As well as writing many articles reflecting his interests in these fields he has also published three textbooks. The first is “Understanding Economics” published by Pearson, aimed especially at non-specialists. This is now in its fourth edition. The second is “Economics”, a principles text for specialist economists written with Karl Case, Ray Fair and Manfred Gartner. This is also published by Pearson Education. His most recent book is “The Economics of Industries and Firms”, a second/third year undergraduate text on the principles underlying firm behaviour. Each of the above texts has supporting materials, websites etc.
He is also interested in distance learning and has produced a whole course that is videostreamed and is used for teaching in various parts of Europe as well as within the University of Portsmouth. He is currently filming further materials for use in teaching.
He also has an interest in European economic issues. Among his other roles he is the University Business School Erasmus Exchange co-ordinator and the Business School’s contact tutor with the International University in Sofia.
