Profile

Dr Ray French  PhD, BA(Hons)

Ray French is a Principal Lecturer at Portsmouth Business School, where he is Subject Leader for Organisation Studies and Human Resources (OSHR.)

Ray has a particular interest in international and cross-cultural dimensions of business. A strong belief in the key importance of cross-cultural awareness and the value of diversity is reflected in his teaching and publications and also in a number of previous roles at Portsmouth.

Teaching experience encompasses both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of cross-cultural management, organisational behaviour and HRM. Ray has co-ordinated many units at the University including the first year undergraduate Organisational Behaviour unit which forms a core part of our business degree courses.

Ray has held a number of academic leadership roles at Portsmouth. He set up and ran an undergraduate European Business degree network and was University Contact and Course Director over a nine year period for Business School courses delivered by a partner institution in Singapore and Hong Kong.

As part of an outward-facing approach, Ray has acted as external examiner in eight universities, both in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
